Lockana Support

Lockana shows you a Japanese JLPT vocabulary word in a place you already look — as a live wallpaper on Android, and as a Lock or Home Screen widget on iOS. If something is not working, start below. If the answer is not here, email admin@nomadlink.tech and a real person will read it.

Please say which phone and which app (Android or iOS) — it is almost always the first thing we need to know.

Setting it up

Android — how do I turn the wallpaper on?

Open Lockana and tap Set as wallpaper. That opens your phone's wallpaper picker with Lockana selected; confirm there and choose the lock screen (or both screens).

If the picker does not open, set it manually: your phone's Settings → Wallpaper → Live wallpapers → Lockana. The exact path differs by manufacturer.

iOS — how do I add the widget?

Lock Screen: press and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customise, tap the Lock Screen, then tap the area under the clock and choose Lockana.

Home Screen: press and hold an empty part of the Home Screen, tap the + in the corner, search for Lockana, pick a size and tap Add Widget.

The widget is the app — there is no screen you need to open daily. Lockana itself is only there for settings, the word list, and the unlock.

When something looks wrong

The word is not changing

On Android, a new word appears each time you wake the phone. If it is not changing, check Lockana is still your active wallpaper — some phones revert to the default wallpaper after a force-stop, a battery optimiser, or a system update.

On iOS, the word changes every 15 minutes, not on every look. This is a limit of how iOS widgets work: apps cannot be woken every time you glance at your phone. If you check twice in a minute you will see the same word, and that is expected.

It does not work on my Samsung or Xiaomi phone

Possibly. Lockana's Android app is verified on stock Android; heavily customised skins — Samsung One UI, Xiaomi HyperOS and others — handle lock-screen live wallpapers differently, and some restrict them. We would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

If it will not stay on, please email us with your phone model and Android version — that is genuinely useful to us — and then request a refund through Google Play. You should not pay for something that does not work on your phone.

I paid, but it still says locked

Open Lockana, go to the unlock screen and tap Restore purchase. Make sure you are signed in to the same Google or Apple account you bought it with — the purchase is tied to that account, not to the phone.

If you are offline, Lockana keeps you unlocked from its own record, so a plane or a bad signal will never take away something you bought. If it still says locked once you are back online, email us.

I bought it on Android — why is it locked on iOS?

The Android and iOS apps are separate products with separate purchases, and the unlock does not carry across.

The reason is deliberate: linking purchases across the two stores would require you to create an account and for us to hold a record of you. Lockana has no accounts and stores nothing about you, and we would rather keep that than share an unlock.

Using it

How do I change the JLPT level?

Open Lockana and go to Settings, then pick N5, N4 or both. At least one level is always selected.

On the free tier the sample is all N5, so your choice is saved but does not change what you see until you unlock the full vocabulary.

Can I hide the English meaning to test myself?

Yes — Settings → Show the English meaning. Turn it off and the word appears with its reading only. You can always look a word up in the word list.

What do I get for free, and what does the unlock add?

Free, you get a curated 50-word N5 sample rotating on your wallpaper or widget — enough to see it working on your own phone. The one-time unlock opens the full 1,386-word N5 and N4 vocabulary.

It is a single purchase, not a subscription, and there is nothing to renew or cancel. Every other feature works on the free tier.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by the store, not by us — through Google Play or Apple. If a refund is granted, the app returns to the free sample the next time it can reach the store.

Privacy

What do you collect about me?

Nothing. No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no ads. The only thing either app sends over the network is the purchase check with Google Play or the App Store.

The full detail, including the one place your settings do travel on iOS, is in the Lockana privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstall the app. Everything Lockana stores is on your device, so removing the app removes all of it. There is no server-side copy, and nothing for you to ask us to delete.
